Parody by AllisonH (2020)

Mr. Bunnyman

For this parody, I rewrote the lyrics of "Mr. Loverman" by Ricky Montgomery and made the song about a bunny. I took inspiration from a bunny that periodically appears in our backyard. My family and I have tried to lure it out with lettuce or carrots, though all of our efforts have unfortunately been unsuccessful.

Throughout the process of putting together the track, I learned a lot about the different functions available in Pro Tools to both improve the track itself and to streamline my workflow. I found the playlist function particularly useful since it allows you to record multiple takes in one track and listen back to them one at a time. Having done some past projects with Pro Tools where I didn't use playlists because I wasn't aware of them, I can definitely say that it made my session a lot cleaner in addition to streamlining the recording and comping process. I definitely struggled a bit with the vocals since I am not a singer and I thoroughly despise hearing my voice played back to me; however, I'm glad that I got the experience of recording and mixing my vocals just for the sake of knowing what it's like. After listening back to the vocals so many times, I got used to hearing them just as a sound rather than my own voice, and that helped me focus on mixing itself.

Between learning about the ins and outs of Pro Tools and mixing my own vocals for the first time, this project definitely taught me more than I expected it to, and I'm excited to apply these skills to future, more complex projects.
